Just wondering/hoping to get some input, how long of a time did you request for your relocation? i.e. from the time of accepting the offer, what do you think is a reasonable time frame to relocate/start work in Singapore? What's your experience? Thank you in advance!

Thanks a lot. 2 months is what we came up with as well, so that's good to hear. Couple plus toddler here.

You're welcome.
Also, strongly recommend you and your other half come out here for a week or so to get a feel for the place - where you want to live, schools, etc. It's invaluable.

We are doing 3 months after signing, which is 4 months after contract was received. We have wanted this forever and know Singapore pretty well and despite this, I find the to-do list unbearably long. So would advise for 3 months.

Also, it is good advice to come and see the place before. Househunting beforehand however is very difficult because you need at least your in principle approval, a local bank etc. We tried to do this but then gave up.

I followed the advice on the forum and negotiated 2 months temporary accommodation so that we have time to find a place and are not stressed.

Also, we were advised that over summer the container is likely to take 8-10 weeks due to peak times. So if you are planning to take furniture with you versus buying locally, you need to factor that in.

Try to negotiate some air freight or excess luggage so that you can bring a few more things :)

Happy to answer any questions, not there yet but have done quite some studying in the past years!
