The culprit is the word "clear" but leaving it out this is just a factual statement. It would be odd if she within the context of this whole article all the sudden started to express her sympathy (if she has any).

There is no two year head start, you leave University at the same time as the other graduates from your year.

By this "head start" logic , you should go to University as young as possible.
