Both are similar in a lot of ways. Location might be the deal breaker?

Neither.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Tanglin if you have to because of the need for a UK curriculum. Dulwich is a 'for profit' school but at least Tanglin try to keep up a pretext of being a trust school and ostensibly NFP.

Tanglin has been recommended to me numerous times, and I have not had Dulwich mentioned to me before - I wouldn't know about it if I hadn't scoured expat sites.

If we were British it's one of two International Schools I would consider (the other is UWC). I think Tanglin has better sports programs than Dulwich - having trawled through the sport competition results for the inter-school comps (because my oldest is sports-mad), Tanglin came up more often than Dulwich Hill which I assume means more teams and a bigger program.

We're not British and don't have company sponsorship so won't bother applying!!

Uh, Tanglin started in Singapore in 1919. Dulwich only came 3 years ago. 3 years is not a lot of time to get a lot of sports competition results!

That makes sense...still, my point was that Tanglin seemed to have a better sports program, which is probably still true, in that case?

Statistically speaking, it would appear to be so!

Which is not to say it makes it better or worse, as a school. But at the prices that International Schools charge, the more you can get for your money, the better, amirite??

Well...there are "budget-priced" International Schools like Invictus and Middleton...

Yes. For us, we are choosing between:

- Paying $40k/year per child for the sort of schooling our children received in Sydney at free government schools
- Paying $15-25k/year per child for the sort of schooling that children in small Australian country towns at weirdo charter schools receive
- Paying $2-3k/year per child for curriculum so that I can homeschool them, and spending the leftover funds on family holidays in Europe and Asia.

The first two are not fantastic, for a family that is used to sending our kids down the road to the local public school, free of charge.

The last option is kind of appealing, and my children have both requested homeschooling. It just depends on how much of my sanity I still have after mothering them for the last decade already

My wife used to homeschool for several years. The benefits were obvious, but it was extremely taxing on her. My admiration and love for her rises several notches after seeing her go through the process.

Ha, I hope my husband feels the same way. We might both go crazy together...
