We're moving to Singapore and don't know how long we're going to stay. We've been thinking about starting a family, but I've been reading that giving birth in Singapore is a highly medicated and technological affair. Where I'm from, most people just have a midwife attend the birth, either at home or in a birth centre, and only go to a hospital if there are complications where a doctor is needed, or they live near a hospital that has it's own birth centre.
I would like to have a birth like that, with no interventions if none are needed and with a midwife to assist me, not a doctor (unless of course the doctor is needed for complications). And while I'm at it, any good female doctors in Singapore? I really don't like the idea of a man doing that job.
Is this possible at all in Singapore, or should I put off having a baby until we return home? This really is something I don't want to compromise on, so I'm willing to wait.
I'm sorry if I sound a bit funny here, but thanks for any help in advance!
