Hi all,
My wife, son and I moved to Singapore last May and were filling our tax returns for the very first time this week and need some help.
My wife was the main earner for the majority of the year so it make sense to load the potential tax deductions against her income but I'm struggling to understand exactly what we can claim for as EP holders with a child.
1/ Are we eligible to claim deduction because we have a 4 year old son? and how much can we claim?
2/ We have had a helper since June can we claim the FDW levy that we have paid last year? and if so is it correct that we can claim double the actual amount?
3/ Were both now working are there any additional amounts that we can claim for?
Any help would be amazing, were happy to pay tax we just want to make sure were not over paying.
Thank you

You might clarify things a bit by telling us which country you are referring to.

I believe he means what country are you from and which country's income taxes are your referring to.....

Sorry I'm British living in Singapore and the tax I'm referring to is the Singapore income tax. As working residents in Singapore we're required to file tax returns for last year. I just need to understand what we can deduct as there are several available tax deductions for parents and working mothers etc

Child needs to be SC for Parent tax rebate. QC child relief maybe applicable.
2/ We have had a helper since June can we claim the FDW levy that we have paid last year? and if so is it correct that we can claim double the actual amount?
Only the female taxpayer can claim and only in the year of expenditure.
3/ Were both now working are there any additional amounts that we can claim for?
Earned income relief is auto calculated. No spouse relief for male taxpayer as her income > $4000. Your wife can claim Working mothers relief if child is SC.
Any help would be amazing, were happy to pay tax we just want to make sure were not over paying.
Thank you
Most of it is outlined here.
