Is It Getting Hazy Again?!?

Post by daveco23 » Wed, 15 Mar 2017 4:35 pm

..or am I imagining it?
The view out over Marina Bay and up the East Coast is decidedly brown, and has been for the last couple of days, but nothing on the interweb about it.

Often hazy off the east coast but no smell. Maybe atmospheric rather than burn off?

http://www.haze.gov.sg/ shows moderate condition but south is definitely higher than other regions in last hour.

Inter-monsoon is here; prevailing winds have begun the end of the monsoon shift. The wind from the South China Sea is as good as devoid of haze particles, but, alas, winds from pretty much everywhere else nowadays are hazy in some degree or another.

That's correct (most of the time).
http://www.weather.gov.sg/weather-rain-area-50km/ may provide the idea on the wind's directions, just observe how rainy areas (if any present) move.

I flew in on the day you posted and asked the cabbie the same question as there was definitely something in the air when we headed into the Marina Bay area. He said "no haze" and there was no smell either once I got out, but you could see that something was off as the colours of the buildings suddenly had this 80's retro look to them due to something in the air. Weird...
