Transfer between companies.. EP status + procedure

Post by rajagainstthemachine » Mon, 13 Mar 2017 12:40 pm

So i have a situation in which my company is selling my department to another company in a worldwide deal.. The new company has a presence in singapore..and it is highly probable at this point that i could move there.
I dont know the terms and conditions of the transfer of employees, but at the moment just second guessing about the EP process. Will my ep be transferred to the new company or the new company has to reapply again?
I looked at the MoM website, it seems to suggest the former..however being KAF.. Just wanted to double confirm lah!

Normally they are usually just transferred but it has to be done with MOM approval/assistance not normally a big deal and most HR departments can handle this type of move. Their might be some collateral damage though IF the selling company or the buying company are borderline with FTs. (S & WPs) if they're on the line one or two FT could loose out if not enough quota. Otherwise, no sweat. But the relevant authorities need to be informed with the transfer date, etc. , etc. As long as they are kept in the loop, shouldn't be any problem.

thanks SMS :D
Right now I am in a company with 16 FT out of some 100 and it appears there could be 2 folks who could be impacted by the transfer..me and another guy... lets see, hopefully this shouldn't be a major problem.
still have 3 months to know the outcome.
My boss told also told me i can sit on the fence as see how the situation goes and if i don't feel like joining the new company I can stay back and he'll find something else to do for me.
lets see how this all finally pans out.

Good luck, Raj. It sounds like you are in good shape then as your current employer is more than accommodating to keep you employed one way or the other. That's a good sign.
