a few days ago i chanced upon 1 year of free wapo digital access (national + DC edition!).
some weeks back, i subscribed to a 4-week subscription to the local Flint, Mich paper (physical copy) for an older relative to try out. price: $7.28.
i signed into the online version of the Flint Journal just for kicks about a week ago.
a few days later, Washington Post sent me an access link via email to sign up.

FWIW, my Flint newspaper subscription was not listed on the official wapo site but i'm subscribed through MLive (michigan live), so your mileage may vary... ask your local paper boy!
i think it's a cheap price to pay for 12 months' access. national + DC edition is usually $149/yr or $14.99/mo.
