Newbie needs explanation regarding work permit

Hi

Let me explain my situation so you can provide me with better answers.
I'm 42 and lliving in Croatia which is part of European Union.
I have 20 years of experience in publishing/magazine design. I work as a creative director in major media house in Croatia.
My plan is to get a job in Singapore. Well, at least try.

So, I am highly experienced and great at what I do.

But the thing is that i have only 2 year university/college degree. Back in early 90s there was no proper design university in Croatia so i went to this private one. Another thing is that this college went bankrupt in early 00s and exists no more.
So, it will be very hard for my employer to check my degree and also for a Singapore goverment to do the same. It can be done but they will have to dig a bit and it may look suspicious.

So, if I get a job, what do you think, will the Singapore goverment make problems regarding this issue?
Do they do thorough background check regarding degrees?

so long as your (associate) degree is genuine, i wouldn't worry too much about it.

i would be worried if your private school was a degree mill that has closed down.

in that case (or if you suspect it may be the case), you might be better off not declaring it...

Everything is genuine. I suppose it was just badly run school.
Anyway, how important is a degree in my case since I have 20 years of experience in the business?
I suppose it is not the most determining factor in my case?!

One would think not , but in Singapore they like piece of paper as a traceable resource.

Then whomever hires, or tries to hire you can say , but he have this paper , even if its your boy scout camping badge!
