What kind of businessman is Trump?
The US has approved controversial tariffs on imported washing machines and solar panels.
The move is in line with President Trump's 'America First' trade policy, which aims to protect local manufacturers from foreign competition.
Chinese solar panels makers and washing machine producers in South Korea will be most heavily affected.
Both countries have criticised the tariffs, which President Trump has talked about since coming to office.

Donald Trump made a plea for unity in his first State of the Union address, declaring a "new American moment," while also promising to crack down on immigration, keep open Guantanamo Bay, and bolster America's nuclear arsenal.
In his biggest speech of the year, to a joint session of Congress, Mr Trump said he would "extend an open hand" to Democrats and spoke of a "tide of optimism" that would benefit "citizens of every background, colour and creed".
In the coming year Mr Trump needs Democrat support in Congress to secure funding for his planned Mexican border wall, and his proposal for an infrastructure spending plan costing more than $1 trillion. But after a rancorous and divisive 12 months his overtures appeared to fall on deaf ears.
Many Democrats refused to stand and clap alongside Republican colleagues who chanted "USA , USA, USA" at high points during the speech. A small number of Democrats boycotted the event entirely. Some of the party's female representatives including Nancy Pelosi, their leader in the House of Representatives, wore black in honour of victims of sexual harassment. Others wore butterfly pins in support of immigrants.

President Donald Trump directed the Justice Department to write regulations banning the use of accessories known as "bump stocks" that allow semiautomatic rifles to be fired more rapidly, and his press secretary declined to rule out supporting restrictions on the purchase of AR-15-style rifles like the one used in a Florida school shooting last week.

The AR15 restriction will never fly.
It is a semi-automatic rifle. On what grounds are you going to ban it? That it is a semi-auto? Then you will need to ban the majority of weapons in the USA, and that's not going to happen.
Are you going to ban it because it looks dangerous? Then what about the next version that looks different?
It's more Trump bullshit... lies, no idea what he is talking about, and 40 milliseconds later, backtracking and denial.

Donald Trump said he was considering backing proposals for teachers in schools to be armed in the wake of America's deadliest ever high school shooting.
Mr Trump said the plan would mean about one fifth of teachers receiving special training and carrying concealed weapons.
He was also looking at the ides of having former members of the US Marines, Army and Air Force stationed in schools.
More guns not less!!
Lets think how this is gonna work out?

I don't think it would be an issue of more guns, but just less gun-free zones. Get rid of that and most idiots would think twice about using people inside gun-free zones as targets if they know somebody may well shoot back at them. Similar thing happened when they published the listing of gun owners in New York City back in 2012. The bad guys just targeted addresses that didn't have any gun owners listed.

Well, when you consider that...
"21% of Fallen Soldiers Die 'Non-Hostile' Deaths. More than 20 percent of the U.S. soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan were killed not by enemy combatants but in “non-hostile” circumstances, including friendly fire, suicide, illness and accidents."
https://mmj.vcu.edu/2010/12/06/non-host ... ghanistan/
...and these are presumably highly trained personnel who know their ways around firearms (yes, I know many of these deaths are related to misfired missiles but a significant percentage is also hand held firearms), then the thought of having armed amateurs reacting to domestic school shootings fills me with alarm.
David Morrell (of Rambo fame) has a very interesting take on this that's well worth a read:
http://davidmorrell.net/2012/07/a-lot-o ... -training/
"It all comes down to adequate training and knowing what’s the right thing to do at the right time. If you decide that a concealed-carry weapon is necessary for you, remember what I said a minute ago. There are few responsibilities greater than carrying a weapon. Does the gun own you, or do you own the gun? There can never be enough training, and it can’t be repeated often enough."
"Both politicians and nappies need to be changed regularly, and for the same reasons."

I wholeheartedly agree. I think all handgun owners and any other firearm should have proper training before you can take possession of said weapon. I am against the banning of guns (including handguns) but I'm all for more stringent vetting before allowing someone to take possession of one.

The main trading partners of the US have reacted angrily after President Donald Trump announced plans to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.
Canada and the EU, both key US allies, said they would bring forward countermeasures.
