Analysts said Beijing is stuck in a challenging situation, as it worries the U.S. missile strike on Syria last week, launched as Messrs. Trump and Xi were meeting in Florida, was a signal from Mr. Trump that he’s willing to take military action on other issues as well.

“Beijing is in somewhat of a new dilemma here, where they’re trying to restrain both Trump and Kim Jong Un, ” said John Delury, associate professor of Chinese studies at Seoul’s Yonsei University.

China holds all the cards when it comes to US relations. Trump gave away the TPP, getting nothing in return from China. China won't respond to US sabre rattling about new military installations on disputed islands, and they know that even Trump is not stupid enough to take military action against those installations.

SE, it's a recipe for another one of them pesky proxy wars. Of course, this one could well degenerate into the mother of all proxy wars.

When Trump got his grand daughter to sing in Mandarin and reside Chinese poems to the leader of a communist country at his winter home, holding "all the cards" seems like an understatement.

An incredibly depressing PBS article on the lives of men deported back to Mexico (and splitting their families) after living in the USA for many years or decades.

I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.

It's happening because fundamentalist Christians in rural areas think they need to take back "their" country from anyone who is different than them.

SE - well - any "Christian" who believes they own a country (and that not everything in their life is owned by God and that sharing is pretty much the #1 commandment) aren't Christians. Regardless of the cause the outcome is awful (and yes, Mexico is a SHIT of a county that has done nothing to fix the cause behind so many people having to leave for better lives).

Yes, you're correct. Beautiful country with shite politicians, institutions and rapacious church.
