International Movers Recommendation From SG to USA

Post by Gongkai200772 » Thu, 12 Jan 2017 9:37 am

Hello All,

I looked into many of the posts here but most of them were not for the US. Does anyone has experience using any international moving companies here in Singapore to move back to the US?

Thanks a lot!

Search my posts for Allied Pickfords. They are affiliated with Allied Van Lines in the USA.

Allied USA stored my furniture, delivered it, and honored my Singapore costs for storage even though they were under the US costs by about 30 percent.

Allied Pickford generally did a good job of packing my goods... but you still need to be around to keep the occasional muppet from wrapping up an entire drawer without packing its contents first.

What pissed me off the most about Allied Pickfords was their attempt to jack up my costs by about one third after the vans had been loaded. I eventually prevailed with a lot of hassle and a threat of lawsuits (I would have done it, too), but it left a sour taste in my mouth for them to try to pull off such a chickenshit maneuver.

I don't know if they should be avoided... it's a couple of years back as well. And as I noted, the service was OK, things were generally packed well.

You just need to make sure you have a hard quotation, in writing, and know exactly what it is for.

Hi,

If anyone is considering Allied Pickfords for your upcoming move, I would like to share my experience.

We moved in July 2017 from Singapore to USA.

It was an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience.

- SLOPPY. Improper packing and unpacking of furniture and delicate objects. They ended up broken.

- RECKLESS. Damage to property because they tried to push the whole baby cot out of the room instead of disassembling it. That is just one example.

- UNPROFESSIONAL. The computer desk literally fell apart when we tried to shift it. There were also two huge tears on either side of our bed base. There was no doubt it was caused by the box cutter when they were unwrapping.

- NEGLIGENT. Left out the bicycles which we removed from the bicycle racks and specifically handed over to the team.

- POOR INTERNAL COMMUNICATION . Destination team was no informed of assembly required for certain items. More delay and frustration trying to chase and have them come again to fix them.

- NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. No updates, follow-up or any communication. We had to follow up or else nothing was done.

I would not recommend their service at all.
