UK Law Graduate Looking for Work

Post by laurar0b » Tue, 03 Jan 2017 6:09 pm

Hello,

I have recently graduated with a First Class Law Degree from the University of Sheffield. I am in Singapore and have recently received my in-principle approval letter for my Work Holiday Pass. Therefore, I am legally allowed to work, unrestricted, in Singapore for six months.

I would be interested in any role. However, a legal role, such as a paralegal or legal assistant position, would be preferable.

If anyone knows of any positions that may be available then please PM me.

Thank you in advance.

Laura

I assume you are aware of the various rules around foreigner lawyers. I would focus my efforts on foreign companies who are registered here to practice law.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Yes, as far as I am aware the rules apply to qualified lawyers. Whereas paralegals and legal assistants, who require no legal qualifications, are open to everyone. But that is a good idea! I will focus my efforts on foreign firms. Thank you.

if it's a bonafide first class honors (sorry, i know little about sheffield LLB), i think many firms would be happy to have you as an intern.

i might not take that route though, unless you want to work non-stop throughout your whole 6 months... so please approach a small firm first.
