Hello I am Singaporean born but lived in the US for most of my life but I've come back and have a lot of time before my NS. So one day I decided to shoplift a couple of things less than $20 and I completely regret this decision. I got caught and was brought into to sit in the store surrounded by employees while the police come. I confessed for the things I stole, but before the police came I ran out and escaped because the very next day I was going on vacation. I live across the mall in a hdb and so I knew there were cameras so I walked the whole day and came back late a night. Over one month has past, and I've come back from vacation, about 2 weeks after I've come back two police officers knock on my door. There's a male and female, but they're wearing GoPro shirts and aren't in uniform. My brother and I answer it and they ask
"Have you seen anything strange around?" and show me their badge
"We answer no"
Then they explain they're asking because it is the new year
And then they see my brother has a NS shirt on and ask if he's in NS so he replies that he just got out.
The officer asks for my name and I tell him
After he asks "how long did you live here?" and my brother says "2 years"
After that they left toward the elevator and didn't ask anyone else on the floor. So I get really suspicious.
I'm wondering if they lifted my fingerprints because I left the item's I stole over a month ago and the finger prints finally came back matching to me.
Is this standard procedure? Should I just turn myself in because they know? Has anyone served as police and know if this means they know I'm guilty?
Thanks for the help

so you committed a crime and seeing ghosts ?
Be a good citizen and go to the police and plead leniency.
In Singapore every crime will be solved, well, almost ...
The cops you saw, probably are from NPP, or VCS, verifying your presence.
Good luck.

What do you think the penalty is for the theft and because I ran away? How many days do you think I have to turn myself in before they come and arrest me?

That's what happens when you watch the liberal media. Maybe it's time you get to watching conservative news like Fox News. That way you'll understand how bad it is to steal. Don't worry, Trump is gonna fix America and all that bad behavior the liberals have been encouraging.

Let me tell you something about Singapore cops... they are bored to death.
An investigation like yours is fun, exciting, gets them out behind their desks and yes - catching you and doing a perp walk through the HDB block with your handcuffed hands behind your back and one hand on the scruff of your scrawny worthless neck will be the high light of any boy in blues day.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

there's a lot of division in the police - sidewalk stuff is for TP or LTA. The jurisdictions can have gaps.
