Post by SingKim » Thu, 08 Dec 2016 6:04 pm

Heard chances to get PR has been very slim in recent years.
Wondering how you guys see the chances of PR approval?

Age : 42
Sex : M
Marital Status : Single
Nationality : Korean
Job: Trading manager in energy industry
Salary: S$350k annum
Pass : EP since March 2011
Highest Qualification attained : Bachelor degree from one of top 3 Korean univ.

Thanks.

You can try to submit an application. Age alone might be the factor against your chances in the application.

Apply and see what happens. But, I think the odds are against you. If you're working for a big MNC at that salary you are going to be viewed as transient and not permanently in Singapore. Your age is on the edge. And, you are single at 42, another negative in the eyes of the gahmen... no roots to tie you to Singapore. Finally, you are Korean, a nationality that doesn't fit into the neat little racial quota boxes the gahmen has set up.

Please do apply, however... if nothing else, we who observe such things could learn a lesson from the outcome.

I'd be curious what the result is.

I'm 10 yrs older than OP, a single Korean-American on P1 EP since 2012 and got rejected last year. Some people I know thought I would get a PR easily based on my salary but I was skeptical because of my age, ethnicity and marital status and I was right. :)

Chances should be ok. But if he gets married and applies after 2 years, should be ok too.

If he can bring the Terrex APC with him to his PR document submission , that will be seen as a positive!
