Terrorist Attack Warnings ..... Fake!

Post by Barnsley » Wed, 07 Dec 2016 10:10 am

http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/ ... st-attacks

The Singapore Police Force has posted a warning on Facebook on Tuesday (Dec 6) against spreading rumours about potential terrorist attacks in December at areas like Orchard Road and VivoCity shopping mall. The warning came after a Whatsapp message made the rounds.
How does one go about receiving these fake messages?

I don't know, but I was heading back from Thailand to Singapore last Thursday and for the first time I witnessed such a massive check of the landing flights passengers. My first thought was exactly, was there any terrorist attack expected?

How massive was it? I go to BKK frequently and have had to go through a couple of screening returning to the red dot ( I think at least one was during hightened alert and the other time I thought was more of random check - for drugs?). They put up the rope, herd us to secondary screening area and go through same screening procedure as when getting out of the red dot.

Probably half or one third of the entire gate wing was reorganized, a dozen of X-ray machines, police everywhere, all the travelators towards the arrival hall blocked and isolated with the police do-not-cross ribbons.

And later I was also checked for the first time ever at the customs next to the exit (what could be just a coincident).

I seemed to go through a spell of being checked each time I'd picked up my luggage. I wondered if I looked like Simon Mann, but they were probably just looking for undeclared booze.

I had the extra screening as x9200 describes about a year ago. Think I was on a flight back from Indonesia, but as described it was a bunch of gates affected in the wing. I wondered at the time if it was going to become the norm but never saw it again and I travel pretty regularly. I'll be flying back from Manila tomorrow so I'll see if it happens this time round.

Terrorist Attack Warnings ..... Fake!

Post by MikeJones » Fri, 09 Dec 2016 8:59 pm

Just arrived on the 5pm flight from Manila and here is the extra security queue after getting off the plane Image

This was terminal 3 and only appears to be 3 or 4 gates at the far end. Took about 25-30 minutes to get through, probably quicker if you're at the front of the plane.

The ST article linked in the other thread said something about checking for fake passports, that's bs as no one was asking for passports just another bag scan and metal detector.

There were times the auxiliary cops enforced no photo rules.

The cops were too far away to stop anyone using their phone and I did wait until a bunch of other people had taken photos without getting shouted at before I tried it :) Thinking about it I'm not entirely sure there were any signs about not using your phone or taking photos like there usually are for security checks.
