Renounced PR outside Singapore, how to return to Singapore?

Post by Annie12321 » Mon, 05 Dec 2016 9:18 pm

Hello everyone. My parents got PR via investment in year 2008. However, due to insufficient time stayed in Singapore, the ICA has rejected their REPs (so does mine). My parents left Singapore without renouncing the PR status so that I am still a PR as long as I am staying in Singapore.

My mom wants to visit me in Singapore but when she applied for visitor VISA, she was told that she needs to return her IC. She was told that once she leaves singapore with an expired REP, she is deemed as giving up her PR.

Hence, I returned my mom's IC on her behalf to the ICA last week. Now, my mom needs to apply for visitor VISA but she was told by the agent that she will likely be rejected in this case.

What should I do now? My mom still needs to come to Singapore to deal with the CPF and bank account issues. She also wants to visit me since we are seperated for one year :(

I am 20 years old (below 21 years old), so definitely my mom cannot authorise me to help her deal with bank account and CPF.

Can someone please help me ?? Thank you all in advance!!!

Why dont u apply for visa. U can sponser her. I dont see why her visa shd be rejected if it is to complete formalities.

Whilst you can stay , don't you lose all your PR entitlements if you dont have a valid re-entry permit?

From my understanding the Govt changed the law in 2014 to remove PR entitlements for those without valid REP.

Barnsley, true or not? Link? This is news to me. I need clarification. I've been searching for the past half hour since I saw this but to no avail. :(

Applying for SVP should be ok. Secondly, for the CPF part it can be done from overseas. One such example is listed below

Without a valid REP overseas, only the PR status is lost.

I only said , because a friend went to the hospital and they asked for valid re-entry pass before treating the child, without which they said you are not eligible for PR subsidies whatever they are.

I tried looking as well , but cannot find anything.

It would make sense to me though if this was the rule.

This is a bit strange, because they usually ask for the NRIC card and not for the REP.

And I mentioned in another thread, at a recently contracted place HR wanted to see the REP and Journey performed sheet.

HR - Yes and I have encountered this too. But, first time at the hospital or clinic...

You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
