Am looking for an MPV for my family. Am new to Sg and will often have house guests to tote around. Two kids 8yrs and 18months. Trips to Malaysia. Have a budget of S$ 2000/mo. Is this possible :?:

There is a wide variety of MPVs in Singapore. Like the Honda Stream, Odyssey, Toyota Picnic, Estima, Nissan Praire etc. Can't really recommend one, my best advice would be go for a test drive!

Price ranges from about $100k to $130k for brand new MPV.

Lets assume that the price is $130k, pay 20% cash and 80% loan for 7 years (100% max loan for 10 years max period).

Cash upfront - $26k
Road Tax & Insurance - Around $3.5k to 4.5k
Loan amount for 7 years - $104k
Average interest for 7 years 2.5% - $18.2k
Monthly instalment will be $1,455
Approximate petrol per month $500

Total cost per month - $1,955

As you can see $2,000 should be enough for a good Japanese MPV, provided you have the cash to pay for the initial 20% and loan for 7 years for the rest.

Hope the above helps :)

Um, aren't you forgetting the cost of the COE here? Around $28k the last time I checked...

Hi, most Jap MPV 2.0 would meet your budget.

Thanks

I'd say any MPV is possibe for 2K per month.

For the best choice, that is so personal.

For less than 2K you could opt for the latest Toyota Fortuner 2.7vvti, although it is more of a SUV (with 7 seats). Reliable, good quality, good driving, spacious, good choice as Toyota will maintain its value when selling away again.

Leasing or buying? Depends on your mileage, how long will you stay here (buying requires a loan of 7 or 10 years), preferences etc.
