sundaymorningstaple wrote:Nobody is sterotyping anybody. But where there is smoke there is usually fire. If the shoe fits ...... as the saying goes. I am in agreement that why should anybody stereotype and if so why shouldn't it be a two way thing. But when someone goes on and on trying to defend the spg or trying to say it isn't relevant or doesn't exist anymore is usually only doing one of two things. Either defending themselves or they are not really aware that it is still going on (not all but in significant numbers to make it still relevant) It's in every country not just here. Only difference is it has different names that's all. Let's face it. People use what they've got to obtain what they want. Some will go further than other to obtain it, that's all.
instead of labelling the the girls as SPGs why not label the caucasian guys who are dating them?? it takes 2 hands to clap...
They don't? Where have you been hiding? They've been called Ang Moh for ages and don't give me the bull that it's just a figure of speech because I've been here too long and also tend to understand tone of voice as well. Also, as "I" also have a local wife (spg? NOT) and have been married for 24 years here I know quite a bit of what is real and what is BS.
of cos they are here and everywhere, there's no argument about that ... but a few black sheeps do not represent the whole population... the fact that i'm defending those who are dating the ang mohs (this labelling is not like labelling the SPGs, its just a term for caucasians - men and women alike - not just for men, so much for ur understanding...i guess either u're not here long enough or a case of an outsider can never really be a local??) is bcz my fren is dating an ang moh but doesn't mean she's an SPG, she's in fact far from anything "party"... she met him by chance and happen to click, and she's not after anything... but bcz of all these stupid labelling, it initially made her so uncomfortable that she didn't even want to be seen walking with him as it invites unwanted stares from the people with this concept!
And as someone mentioned in the thread, there are more and more ang mohs working now in singapore, so its not unusual for them to meet through work and fall for each other as the times goes by... so where does the term SPG fit in here??
To you, he's a dog...
To me, he's everything...

Agree wholeheartedly with you on this, mayamomi.
SPG, a term of the past.
Fits an old man like SMS, doesn't it?

Hey, what happened to Strong Eagle's post chastising all of us? Bummer. That should have been left here just to show some of us are above slipping into the slime here.
Superglide,
it's good to know that you won't be partaking of any of the evening delights running around in the clubs here. Heaven forbid you were to end up hoist by your own petard!
