PR renewal while furthering my studies overseas?

Post by harty » Wed, 21 Sep 2016 3:11 pm

Was looking through the forum, but realised that most of the topics on situations similar to mine are dated from a few years back so here's me checking in.

I’m a PR who has been living in Singapore for the past 17 years and will be furthering my degree studies overseas next Feb. Meanwhile, my REP will expire in April 2017.
Do you have any idea if i'd be able to successfully renew my REP? I won't be employed at time for renewal as I'll be preparing for my move overseas. I fully intend to return to Singapore after I complete my studies though.

Will it increase my chances if I told them of my plans to return to Singapore after completing my studies?

Better to inform ICA in writing about your intentions to study overseas and your commitment that you will be back once your studies is complete. Also you can renew your REP 3 months before expiry.
