I don't know the answer, but what I know is, you still have to submit everybody's details et al and ... wife applying alone will not win points.room@home wrote: After 2 years, do you think the wife is eligible to apply for Citizenship in her own rights? Or her PR is viewed as "dependent" and has no standalone rights?
In the case where she has to renew her PR on her own, it will be considered and possible if she is able to show that she was able to support herself independently and also has a stable job.room@home wrote: Or her PR is viewed as "dependent" and has no standalone rights?
Why would the wife want to apply for citizenship on her own? That's the first question I'd ask if I were ICA. Especially considering you are the main applicant. How long have you been married? How old is the child?room@home wrote:Dear experts and experience forumers,
I'd like to tap on your knowledge on this specific scenario.
During PR application:
Husband being the main Applicant
Wife - Applicant's spouse
Daughter - Applicant's child
ICA approved PR for all 3.
After 2 years, do you think the wife is eligible to apply for Citizenship in her own rights? Or her PR is viewed as "dependent" and has no standalone rights?
*Not wanting to touch on the chances of success yet but to understand if this can even be done.
Many thanks in advance!!

You have not mentioned any details about where are you from, how long are you in sg, since how long are you a PR, how long are u married, education, work details, etc.room@home wrote:Many thanks for inputs guys!
Whatever the intention - nothing screams that the wife is not even allowed to apply.
My other guess was that since the wife holds a blue NRIC, unlike a dependent pass that is tagged along to the main, it does confer an independent rights of its own, so to speak.
Ok, having that first part answered...thanks again.
The second part would be: how's the chance...so I get: zero % approval
ICA has been getting tough on guys where one or more go for SC and leave the rest on PR, obvious backup plans. It will be miracle if it gets approved. But miracles do happen. Right ?room@home wrote: The second part would be: how's the chance...so I get: zero % approval
Yes, it's also published on ICA's FAQ (Question #1) that I've just come across.room@home wrote:For the benefit of fellow forumers, here's the official reply from ICA:
"Dear Sir/Madam,
We refer to your email below.
We sincerely apologise for the delayed response as we are experiencing a high volume of emails.
Kindly be informed that an adult applicant (21 years and above) who wishes to apply for Singapore Citizenship (SC) on his/her own merits (i.e. under Economic Scheme) has to be a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) for at least 2 to 6 years, gainfully employed and is continuously residing in Singapore prior to date of application.
Thank you.
Regards,
Citizen Services Centre ( Citizenship )
Immigration & Checkpoints Authority"
So this confirms on the eligibility that even a PR granted through "Applicant's Spouse" status is not deprived from applying SC on his/her own merits.
