Actually, you can work before obtaining your Work Permit. Quite often, depending on the country of origin, MOM will allow you to work on the IPA until such time as the WP is issued. Of course there are limits there. I still think something smells fishy in Denmark though.

BBCWatcher wrote:I also don't understand how you can be working legally in Singapore at S$1800/month, as you mentioned, while your Work Permit is pending. Employment must strictly come after work permission, not ahead of it. (A fixed monthly salary of $1800 is below the minimum for a S Pass, for the record.)

It appears you have some problems (plural). I recommend getting those problems cleaned up. If you're working for shady, rule breaking employers then your experience (including salary experience) will reflect that. And if you have aspirations to stay in Singapore, this path isn't helpful. Just some friendly advice. I think you're getting ripped off if nothing else.
I don't have any issue with the new employer. I did receive a temporary work permit straight from MoM's site. I can even take a photo of it, but I don't really wish to disclose anything here on the internet. And I'm getting Work Permit, not S Pass.

Meanwhile, I'll try to clear my doubts with MoM for my previous employment.

OK then, that's good. (Work Permits are different than S Passes.)

Just got the answers from MoM itself.

Question1: Does job hopping affects my chances of renewal for next working passes

1. Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will not be able to comment on your chances of getting a work pass in Singapore as each application is assessed based on prevailing assessment criteria, subject to approval.

Question2: Is it true that Malaysian has a higher chance of getting EP even without meeting the minimum salary requirement?

2. We cannot immediately confirm the likelihood of Employment Pass (EP) approval based on your brief description as all applications are carefully assessed taking into consideration a number of factors such as the applicant’s qualifications, working experience, job nature, economic contribution and the employer’s track record.

However, we do have an online Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) at http://www.mom.gov.sg/eservices/service ... sment-tool that you can use to gauge on your likelihood in qualifying for an EP based on the information provided.

Question3:
Is there any levy rate incurred for EP holders?

3. There is no levy incurred for companies employing EP holders.

Question4: What are the reasons behind of a rejection of working passes?

4. In the event that your work pass application is rejected, you are advised to approach your employer for the rejection advisory, as we would have communicated this.

Question5: If my last employment was EP, can I request my next employer to apply EP for me as well?

5. If you have successfully obtained a new job offer in a Singapore-registered company, your prospective employer may submit an EP application, on your behalf, for our consideration.

Please note that the EP application will be assessed in accordance to the prevailing criteria and subjected to approval.

There's nothing there that I didn't know ...

In fact, all they did was quote from the online FAQ's it sounds like. As noted, nothing new there except a waste of bandwidth and a post so long nobody will read it anyway. :-/

So you got all your questions answered by MOM, right ?

Good for you.

I nearly was gonna explain to you about my previous answers from past personal experience dealing with situations like yours, especially on the other thread of yours, but, I aplogise, I got side tracked by your best buddy (btw, where is he ?) and, now I am convinced, it won't be worth it ..

You're welcome, for someone that leaves comments on almost every post in a forum, you sir need a life. Try going outside for a change will ya? You're probably too young for being a keyboard warrior. I hope you don't spread your stupidity over all the posts in the forums with wrong information. Cheers.

P.S. Take that as a compliment too please =D>
