You mean the Eagles could get pub seats at Emerald Hill without waiting half the night?

Orchard Road is a pile of steaming dog shit I avoid ever since they pushed people off the surface streets into underground malls.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.

The foreign crowd has really dwindled. The new foreigners who are coming, their demographics is also different. There are more singles coming in compared to families. Also the last few years PR approvals have been given to a totally different demographics. Mostly young poor singles rather than rich families. So the impact is few houses are being bought by foreigners. And when people don't buy houses, they also don't buy a lot of stuff that you would normally buy when you own a house. Whenever we go to Ikea we consciously don't buy anything since we are in a rented house and we don't want to have big pile of stuff if we need to leave the country.

Just milling around ... The shops other than the food n drink places all empty.

Maybe all the shopping malls should just be converted to massive food courts =D> =D> =D>

and stupidly over priced to boot ...

i go to a store, try size, and order online.

CONSIDERABLY cheaper ...

recently my son bought a pair of shoes in london, which inspite of the strong GBP, was about 40% of the local price ... and that's before GST refund at the airport ...

But those high class / atas Indonesians, Filipinos (who really buy stuff..) and south Asians are still there ... and rarer and rarer to see locals shopping. And the windows shoppers are A lot too.

Oh, last month thrice me and visiting guests were able to get seats in Wisma Attria and other places during lunch hour. Shows how popular Orchard is now.

Actually, Orchard's cheaper food choices have dwindled - all replaced by expensive eats. Thank You lucky plaza for cheaper food.

We buy sometimes the stuffed toys for our daughter. But never bought any of the bulky household stuff. I always kept telling my wife, when we buy our own condo in Singapore, we will buy those stuff. But now buying a house in Singapore looks beyond impossible.

It's interesting watching my neighbours living in dreamland trying to rent out their condo units right now. $4000 for a D14 condo with subpar facilties, a 15 min walk from the MRT (and no cover) and 3 rooms? You're dreaming mate. Try $2600 for a quick rental.

the way they designed the underground sections that connect ion orchard, wisma and that tangs/lucky plaze is like the crystal maze, i'm expecting Richard O'Brien to jump out of somewhere and offer me a game of chance.
So anyway even if i end up going there its to somerset 313 and at the marche there, i quite like that place and once i've finished eat and window shopped for a bit i can head out to ion orchard and see the same exact shops in reverse.
If you head to Kinokunia all you see is overpriced fancy books so you say eff this i'll order online, in the end you don't really buy anything and come back home empty handed.
Am i stingy No? is there really something to buy ? probably not.

Ah yes , reality hasn't set in for a lot of folks.

You still read online that you are guaranteed to get this and that for rental, its quite amusing to read sometimes.
