I am not. However, in this specific case, as it happens, Jeff was (we can reasonably infer) born, raised, and educated in Singapore and is 16 years of age. His English reading comprehension -- including his comprehension of the written word "possibly," italicized as a bonus -- might be better than yours.

Everything I wrote upthread is precise, clear, important, and factually correct -- and that's what ought to matter here, one would think.

I have no idea why this stuff is even arguable, why so many people in this forum so often look for arguments where there are none. I'm trying to help provide useful advice, and on this occasion (and many others) that's exactly what happened.

I make no apologies for my barnyard English as I grew up on a farm in a small community of less than 10k people. I'll just bet you are the life of the party at social events.

^^^^^^
And in the famous words of Walter Mondale, "Where's the beef?"

Then again, I am "reasonably inferring" the above, SMS.

Walter Mondale lost, badly. He holds the record for the worst Electoral College defeat in the Democratic Party's nearly 200 year history.

He's a terrific guy in many ways, but his "Where's the beef?" wasn't one of those ways.

To be fair it took me a double reading of BBCW's post to work out what he meant as well and I concur with him or her that there is a possibility... I put this in my common category of 'assumption makes an ass of me' mistakes...

So Jeff to summarize you can cancel your PR before being called up for NS. One thing we are absolutely positive about is you won't ever be able to work in Singapore. One thing we don't know for certain is whether you will always be able to enter Singapore to visit your folks but the presumption is you probably will be able to unless there is a major policy shift. Apologies for misreading your initial post; so many of these are "I ran away from NS and now what?".
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

I think the assumptions is the right word. To be fair (me too) I have no idea why everybody is after BBCW in this specific thread. Is his English somehow non-standard?

What passport do you hold? If you are not a citizen of SG then you should, not be considered a deserter if you give up PR. In my humble opinion......
I have a passion for St Kitts and Nevis and the tropical Caribbean islands.

Would depend on whether or not he got his call-up.

Hi Jeff,
I have a similar encounter, can you share with me did you drop your PR? And if your family members are affected?

Well... Jeff last posted almost two years ago and made only two posts. You will be mighty lucky to get a response.
