Goldman Sachs? Prestigious firm that keeps getting caught with its hand in the safe.

EP Application status still Pending

Post by Sathy » Thu, 30 Mar 2017 9:32 pm

Hi
I've been recruited by Banking firm as permanent employee recently ( with good salary package ) and they liaised with a consultancy to proceed for EP.
We've submitted the application last week Thursday Morning itself and application status is still pending, Could someone tell me how much time now they are taking to approve applications now.
As far I heard, My friends told it will be approved within 3 days ( by their recent experiences ) but for me it is still delaying in turn affecting my joining date on new firm :(

Note: I've been working in Singapore last 2 years and having valid EP till Mar 2018 - Is that reason the new EP application is delaying getting approval ?

Kindly advise or inputs your comments here.
:???:
Thanks

Depends on the bank. Usually banks have non IT staff filled with locals so their ratio is okay. So unless your bank is different, you should get it in 3 days.

Why have they "liaised with a consultancy to proceed for EP"? Is their own HR too stupid to fill out 5 minutes worth of paperwork for the EP?

Or, is it that you are not actually working for the bank and instead, you are going to be working for the consultancy in a full time role but seconded to the bank?

If you are working for the consultancy and not directly for the bank you may wait 3 months... or forever. From what I've seen in these forums, the people whose EP's are delayed and pending seem to be working for body shops.

Hi
No I am not got job thru consultancy, I've been directly contacted by the bank and recruited ( process took 3 months ) and now they gave the EP filing/formalities to some third party agent (consultancy).
Moreover the same day one more guy got selected and same agent applied ep fr him (on same day with me) and he got within 2 days.

Don't know why it is dragging fr me ... my bad

if a bank is engaging a third party to file EP, 99% chance you are body shopped to that agency, as some banks are passing candidates to agency, after finalising.

You may be In for long wait. :(

The "other" guy may have skipped the vetting processes...

SE and Ecureilx, Banks indeed employ 3rd party just for the EP application process. Local banks HR do it themselves but global bank HRs outsource this stuff. I can tell this from experience. I know Credit Suisse and Barclays both HR don't apply for EP themselves. They outsource all these manual stuff to 3rd party. In case of Credit Suisse the 3rd party is PwC.

This is the department within PwC that does EP applications:

http://www.pwcias.com/en/services/immig ... vices.html

This is why I absolutely love global banks. Everything gets taken care of so nicely. We get pension equivalent to CPF, managed by an asset Management company in Hong Kong. We get medical for spouse and kids.

I have worked for 2 local banks and 2 global banks. Given a choice I would always want to work for a global bank even though the job security is much lower.

I've called the agent applied for EP, they ask me to wait till this thurdsay.
Lets see!
I m checking frequently and worried because, My notice period varies depends on the time I m submitting my resignation letter ( varies from 1 to 3 months).
I m hoping fr the best to get approved this week.

Can anyone in this forum got EP approved in last few weeks back ( Might be from Mar 1st to till now)

Anyone?
