Anyone know of any other life skills training for teens, esp before they leave home for uni abroad?

Tagging not because I have an answer, but because i also want to know if someone responds.
Interesting National Service would be great for this except for the 18 months. If there was a 6 month option for non citizen / PR it would be worth doing

summer camps can be helpful. or maybe enrol him in a language course.
