Yeah just reminder for all. Obama the first black US president also stayed and studied in Indonesia when he was a kid. He said Indonesia is part of his life

U missed the point dude. I just tried to educate PNGMK to comment wisely and not spread hate speech. So internet life can be lovely.
Btw Steve job never mentioned India is part of his life not like Obama. He did mention explicitly Indonesia is part of his life. The correlations and the way your thinking is not correct.

He did after people in indon brought up that specific point of his past.
If you're trying to win a popularity contest and at the same time, improve relations between two countries, it is a politically correct move.

1. Find an employer who wants to give you a job. Note that even in this case it's extremely hard for employers to get passes for Indonesians because LKY hated them. You basically need to be an extra special snowflake like a phd or medico or super talented engineer.
2. After you get a job work for your way up to where you are an attractive candidate for CITIZENSHIP and then apply for PR.... This means earning a good income and appearing to be a positive contributor to Singapore. This means a consistent record of increases in salary and responsibility in a profession that Singapore current wants as well as not being gay and possibly being a provided of male children (cannon fodder for NS).
Hi PNGMK
May i know from where u get the source that LKY hate indonesian?
Just reminder not spreading false news and hate speech. Im just affraid you will get sue if you dont have strong proof.
A former HRM. We had many many issues with getting Indonesians (even professionals) work permits and she told me that it was a long standing policy based on apparent LKY's dislike of Indonesians (she based her theory on the various issues from the MacDonald bombing and LKY's
statements about muslims as per the leaked wikileaks cables. While it is an anecdote only I think any casual observer would wonder why the foreign worker population of Singapore has such a small % of Indonesians compared to other countries when it is Singapore's largest neighbour by population. Whether this is due to personal animosity on behalf of the former PM or not I am not in a position to verify and I am happy to withdraw the accusation while retaining my statement that Indonesians appear to be disadvantaged when it comes to applying for work and employment passes in Singapore compared to other nationalities nearby.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

If you are ethnically a Chinese Indonesian your chances are much better, but if you haven't done NS because your parent kept you on a LTVP/Student Pass just to avoid NS, I afraid it doesn't make much difference what flavour of Indonesian you are. Or any other country for that matter.
For the record, the only Indonesians allowed to work in Singapore on a WP (Work Permit) are Foreign Domestic Workers, Males are out of luck. (Unlike our Malaysian neighbours to the north.) There is a reason for that.

Oooooo! Trying to blow smoke up our arses izzit?
I would suggest you study your history about Indonesian terrorists and the McDonald House (and a dozen other bombing during the Konfrontasi era) to learn why Indonesians are neither liked or trusted in Singapore.

The Chinese part is rather dificult to prove as our birth certs aint no race stated.
I was asked to strike the Chinese part on my PR application due to points above and perhaps a rather tan complexion, so aint Chinese look-a-likey.

And being tone deaf about it doesn't help, either.

I believe SG is a meritocracy. If based on news the people say LKY hated Indonesian, i dont think that is a correct logic. Just like this Sadiq Khan is a moslem. And Tony Blair supported George Bush to attack Iraq and most of the Iraq people is moslem. Does it mean British hate moslem? If yes why London people select Sadiq Khan. I understand Western people always translate something litterally. My opinion is that logic is not correct. We should not generalized something because of one incident.
Anyway i respect your opinion. And thanks Lord you understand. We should declare variables and not war.

Still blowing smoke, or at least trying to. You are suffering from your own forest fires apparently and it's given you a hazy brain to go with Sumatra and Kalimantan in general. I worked in Indonesia from 1982 to 1994. I've worked the length and breadth of the archipelagio from Aceh to Irian Jaya and from the Maluccas to Timor and most places in between. I daresay, I had no problems with Indonesians in general, but I wasn't a Singaporean.
However, they ALWAYS gave my crews a hard time just coming through immigration if my crew members were Chinese Singaporeans (didn't happen with my Indian Singaporean crew members or other Caucasians like myself (regardless of what country we were coming from), but only my Chinese Singaporean workers.
Singapore is a meritocracy only between Singaporeans, NOT with foreign talent. That is why FT has to be twice as good to get a job here than the local needs. And even then if you are a regional "talent" you will get paid less than the local will for the same position. So go put some more of the whacky tobaccy or Kretek in your pipe and fire that sucker up as you need to dwell on your misconceptions about the relationship between the two countries.
