What's the best place to live if position being offered is in the Central Business District?

The most sought after would be the Orchard district, you have a choice to live in the River Valley which is not far away from Orchard. Rents are a little lower as compared to Orchard.

Thanks! I am checking a bunch of apartments/condos in the east coast side as well. I have heard that is a great place if you have children. What is your opinion on that?

Yes, the East Coast area is nice if you have children. It is near to the highway, you can get to work fast, and the kids have plenty of choices for schools as well as recreation. The East Coast Park is very popular with both young and old.
The kids can go roller blading or cycling. Or you can have a family night of fun barbequing there.
It's peaceful when you need it at night, unlike the buzzling activities if you choose to live in town.
