PR application --> likelihood?

Postby Lcct333 » Thu, 02 Jun 2016 12:32 pm

Firstly, apologies if this post is in the incorrect forum. Please shift accordingly if so.

I have recently applied for PR (interview is scheduled for October), and have been reading through a few of the threads on this forum, which seem to suggest that caucasians working in finance are not likely to be granted PR. This has me worried, as it is my hope to settle permanently in Singapore.

My profile is as follows:

Age: 28 (as of next week)
Nationality: Australian
Marital Status: Married to a Singaporean for 8 months (the reason for my original relocation)
Time in Singapore: 18 months
Job: Tax Manager in a foreign bank
Salary: $11k per month
Qualifications: Masters & 2 Bachelor degrees from an Australian University (top 30 in the world, apparently)

I have also purchased a condo, which is currently under construction.

Given the foregoing, would my chances of obtaining PR be good, or do I unfortunately fit into one of the buckets deemed unfavourable?

Thanks in advance

Condo won't make any difference. Being married to a local will help. I think you may be ok. Time will tell. If you fail reapply after a few years and with a babe in arms.

I'm inclined to agree with PNGMK. First of all, you were already here in a good position with a good income. So, obviously you didn't get married to obtain a residency Visa like so many from the Subcontinent and other parts of S.E. Asia are wont to do. Therefore, I tend to agree that being married to a local and having considerable academic qualifications, I would think your chances are pretty good after you have been here long enough to have at lease three Tax Assessments under your belt. Without the Singaporean wife, I feel you might not have as rosy a chance though, for all the reasons mention in the threads you have already perused before posting. You may be jumping the gun about 1 year early, but who knows.......

Good Luck.

I suspect Australian's (and maybe Kiwis) get slightly better treatment than other Caucasians as neighbors of Singapore... I seem to know more Aussie PR's anyways.

Try having a male child, it usually helps as they will find his National Service as a possible reason to give you PR, an Internet search revealed that having doggie style sex with deep penetration usually improves the chances of having a male child.

What IS wrong with you?

http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a549359/can ... oy-or-girl

You're more likely to conceive a boy if...
You have sex on the day of ovulation, as male sperm are thought to swim faster and reach the egg first.
You reach orgasm before your partner, as this releases an alkaline fluid, thought to be more male-sperm friendly than the vagina's natural acidity.
You have deep penetration during sex, such as from behind (doggie-style).
Your partner has a high sperm count. This is because male sperm are not as strong as female sperm, and so the higher the count, the more chance there is of a male sperm reaching the egg first.
You avoid sex for a week before ovulation and then only have sex once on ovulation day, to keep the sperm count high.
Your partner suggested the love-making.
You make love at night.
You make love on odd days of the month.
Your partner keeps his genitals cool by wearing boxer shorts and loose-fitting trousers.
You eat salty food, plenty of meat, fish, white flour, pasta, fresh fruit, certain vegetables, but avoid milk and dairy products, such as yoghurt and cheese, nuts, chocolate, shellfish and wholemeal bread

Thank you all for the replies. They are very helpful and informative. I will post the outcome down the track to add to the forum's repository of knowledge.

Particular thanks to Raja for the insight re: how to conceive a male child!

Condo in your name or wife's name? I cant imagine you paid 15% ABSD.

Joint purchase. As my wife is Singaporean, we were only obligated to pay the 3% stamp duty.

"If a property is jointly purchased by buyers of different profiles, the profile with the highest ABSD rate will apply."

PNGMK, I'm not sure on this, but I though in a case where different profiles are concerned, if one is a Singapore Citizen, the purchase of the flat is in the SC's name as the primary or lead purchaser and others listed subsequently. So if PR married to a SC then the SC rate would apply. If PR married to PR, PR rates apply and so on. Otherwise the Government would be penalizing the SC for marrying a PR, etc.
