Average cost for a language tutor?

Post by NCD22 » Mon, 30 May 2016 2:46 pm

We are looking for a Mandarin tutor for our daughter. Does anyone have a rough guide on what the hourly rate for tutors is in Singapore? Have not done this here so just want to make sure that we have the right kind of expectation going in.

Thanks!

If your daughter did not learn before, the hourly rate is around 70SGD, however, this does not include course materials and others. For that potion, it will not cost so much. Hope this information could help. Thomas.

If by mandarin tutor you a personal tutor who will teach according to the more syllabus, expect to pay $400-$600 per month for 4 2 hour sessions. This comes out to around $50-$75 per hour. Alternatively, you can choose to enroll your child in a tuition centre, but 1-on-1 usually generates the best results.

I don’t recommend online tuition for languages. It’s almost impossible to learn without being face to face. You would be better off spending a little more for a better experience.
