Progressive Resident Tax or Non Resident Tax

Post by mkhanna123 » Sat, 21 May 2016 8:53 am

Hi,
I have applied for an EP and will be shifting to Singapore in July 2016.
I am a media professional for a company based in India and would be paid in SGD in Singapore.
How would be the taxes be calculated for 2016 year for me -
1) if i start working from 1st July for this yr (more than 183 days till 31st Dec)
2) if i start working from 4th July (less than 183 days till 31st Dec)
With respect to Resident Tax Structure (Progressive taxes) or Non Resident Tax Structure (flat 15% taxes). What % ?
Replies, clarifications and answers would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Mayank

If your work visa is valid for 12 months or more you will be charged at resident rates. However, should you leave before 6 months (specifically 183 days) then you will be charged on your IR-21 filing based on the non-resident rate.

Now that made absolutely zero sense at all. You are almost batting 1000 for making no sense here.
