WHP duration conflict with internship

Post by SilverJan » Tue, 17 May 2016 7:00 pm

Hello there,

I have a question regarding the WHP. I'm an undergraduate from Germany and I am going to do a six-month internship at a big German company in Singapore starting on 1th September 2016 and ending on 28th February 2017.

I plan to arrive in Singapore on 14th of August 2016. The total time in Singapore would be six and a half months.

From the mom.gov.sg website I got the information, that the WHP is valid for six months at most, which would be a conflict then.

I already applicated for the WHP (I sent the mail last sunday) with starting date 14th August 2016, because this is my planned day of arrival.

My internship ends on 28th February 2017, so with my recent WHP-Application, the visa would not be valid for two weeks (14th February 2017 until departure in beginning of March 2017).

Does someone know what to do in my situation? Was it wrong to name the 14th August as the starting date in my WHP application? If yes, is it possible to change it afterwards?

Thank you very much!

If someone is in the same situation lateron, this is what MOM (foreigner government) told me after enquiring them:

- The "proposed period of travel/entry into Singapore" field in the WHP application form is not fixed
- One will get a social visit pass on arrival
- As long as one has a valid social visit pass, one can stay in Singapore
- In this time it is possible to book a later appointment date of the WHP
