meanwhile in other news RBS is shutting down its India operations and DBS could likely take over

"Earlier this year, Singapore-based DBS Group Holdings Ltd, and IDFC Bank Ltd were vying for the rest of the Indian banking business of RBS, Bloomberg reported."

They ( state owned Indian banks) had it coming for a long time, they used to hand out huge loans often on flimsy grounds to Indian corporates and businessmen often based on reputation than on sound financial health. e.g Vijay Mallya and now they can't even extradite him, he ran away to the UK.

Now the right wing loonies which run our country want to fire the RBI governor because he went to the USA to renew his green card lol

this guy Raghuram is a well respected economist worldwide and here our government wants to blame him instead.

the real issue is that mallya is one of the smaller defaulters ...

here's what is apparently going on ... some in the news, some not ...

mallya - 9,000 cr
anil industries - 20,000 cr
adani - 90,000 cr

and it's still only the tip of the iceberg ...

when money is free, there will always be someone to relieve you of it ...

Hey Raj,

Point of information. When a number is expressed as 5,67,890 what is that in the normal Arabic number system the rest of the world uses? :???:

To convert a Rupee amount (given in Crores), into its corresponding Euro amount in Millions, divide the Rupee amount by 5.

Thus, Rs 5 Cr = Rs 5,0,00,000/- = € 1 million
Fair enough, but why the extra comma in 5,000,000 or 5,0,00,000???

i was taught in school to place a comma after the first three zeros and then a comma after every two zeros.
eg. 100,000 or 10,00,00,000

i can't errr remember more than that.

5,0,00,000 is a typo ...

it's 50,00,000 (Indian) or 5,000,000 (Western) ...
