Hi all,
I recently relocated to Singapore on a DPass as my wife is permanently employed by a company here (both expats).
I plan to create a company so I can work as a freelance musician and tutor without being tied to one agency. I'm college trained and have been working in this field internationally for the past 15 years.
So far I've completed the following for a Sole Proprietorship as I'll be self-employed with no staff:
1. Recieved DPass and registered with SingPass.gov.sg
2. Applied for Business Name with Bizfile.gov.sg
3. Registered Business Name and recieved UEN at Bizfile.gov.sg (according to the ACRA helpdesk the UEN and ACRA Registration Number are the same thing...)
4. Written my Business Plan including 3 letters of endorsement from prominent industry people.
5. Completed paperwork for EntrePass application through MoM.gov.sg
I'm now ready (I hope) to submit my EntrePass Application to MoM and have some final questions:
1. Can expats set up a sole proprietorship or does the company need to be LLC?
2. Will I need evidence of the 50k capital?
3. Do I still need a local sponsor?
Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It appears that most people have been successful with a SP not LLCBARIRUMBLES wrote:Hi all,

No, that requirement is for Entrepass. However, you help yourself in the approval process by demonstrating sufficient funding to make your business go. This can be as simple as a statement that says, "Intend to invest $XX K into the business for Y an Z".2. Will I need evidence of the 50k capital?
No.3. Do I still need a local sponsor?
Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
If you haven't already, read the two threads below. Good information from both those who have succeeded and those who have failed.

Re: Creating Professional Musician Business on DPass
Thanks Strong Eagle,
That really confirms what I've been researching. I'm now at the point in the process where I need to decide if I go for SP or LLC... decisions, decisions...
I also found this thread which was useful and more recent (2013)
http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/viewto ... 05#p746805
However, I can't find the link to the LOC application form on the MoM website.
Do you or anyone have a link to the form?
