Hi,

I have just received my Rejection Letter this morning from ICA after 5 months waiting.
Just sharing:
1- S Pass/ SGD 46k per a.n
2- Applied @ Nov 2015/ 3rd application
3- Vietnamese Chinese/Single
4- Singapore since 2008
5: Education: Advanced Dip from Raffles Education, Degree from SIM Uni and 6 months short course from Harvard, US.
6: Language: Native Vietnamese, Native Cantonese, Advanced in Mandarin, some of dialog hokien, Certified English is a Second Language after mother tongue Certificate from UK, basic in France, beginner in Korean and Japanese (oh well, why I so detailed about this part because it makes me proud :D, beside, to let you see how well I take Singapore's culture as my own culture, there is no problem for me to understand and join the community) ==> But do forgive me for my broken English here as I do know I'm very weak in grammar like my father always said that I'm something like "Jack of all trades, master at none"
7- Status @ inquiry = Rejected :( on 11th April 2016

Here when I was 19, held a Student Pass and completed my degree in Banking and Finance from a Private University in Singapore after 3 years.
Started to apply PR on 2012 after holding an Spass for 1.5 year and been rejected for the 1st time, reapplied again in 2013 with 2 recommendation letters from MP, and several testimonials from Local friends who are Senior Management such as GM from HSBC, VP from Credit Suisse, Senior Manager from Manulife, and Directors of local companies. And still got a Rejection from ICA.
Reason: there is no reason, or some reasons but I do not know :???:

Almost giving up and going to New York, US but because my Singapore bf doesn't want to leave here as well as his parents since he is the only child (me too) so I decided to try again on Nov 2015, telling myself that this is my last trying. Submitting documents are same except increment in salary, more testimonials from friends this time on top of my old friends' testimonials (really appreciate for their kind help, they even don't mind to help me called and checked with the ICA to find out the matters, wrote me a super powerful and sincerely recommendation letters whenever I need- a strong reason to make me stay and decide why I choose Singapore), also I have contributed and donated to many Gov organizations in the past few years with appreciation letters from them. However, who cares this is my last or my first apply, or what I think- the ICA will just reject it- again and again. Of course, the problem must be with me, and not all cases are the same, but the biggest problem is I-Do-Not-Know what is the problem. *Hopeless* [-o< :???:

A bit more information about my current relationship, I've been dating my Singaporean bf for 6 years, and really looking for settling down in Singapore.
I do not wish to obtain Pr after marrying, as I hope we both could apply for a flat then ROM once we've got an approval from EC/HDB. However, my plan is not gig to work in this way after this morning. [-X

If you ask me why don't I marry my bf since it might help to increase a chance in obtaining a PR, then I can only tell you that I want to do it step by step, get a house - then marry- and have kids [-( . Because I'm the only kid like I mentioned above, my parents are doing well and they certainly want me to find a stable partner and both of us should own a house before marrying. We can't get an EC/HDB flat in Singapore without marrying unless my local bf is 35 yrs- and yeah, god blessed us because he is gig to be 35 yrs by this September, but his income is unlikely own a EC by his own and if we go for HDB then can only wait for a resale flat and not guarantee he can get it as well. How about asking my parent to support us to get a condo or place a fixed deposit of a huge amount of $$ in Singapore - then well neither they are a billionaire nor I'm a spoiled brat [-( . Everything I have to settle and plan myself since they ald have given me might - not - the - best - things in life but at- their - best - way. :D

Anw, back to the PR's story which has taken my 5 years to apply - waiting and reapply and waiting. Seriously I really depressed now, but I just share with you my story so that you could improve your documents in some part and make it better than mine. You gain from my lost :D :D
I do wish you a better future with your PR application. Remember, you nationality might be an important point in your Pr application. Once Pr's quota is full for the Vnmese, it might still available for others. so do try!

For me, I will just go home and have a good rest tonight 8-[ . My bf and me will have to work on our future plan again without counting on the Pr anymore ](*,) .

It was really heart breaking to see you want PR before Marriage. So if PR doesn't come, you gonna look for another guy? I am just being frank here. #-o

Hi ecurexilx,

First of all, thanks for your attention at my case.
Second, Pr now is not the matter to me anymore because I know my boss is unlikely to kick me out of his company soon so I'm glad I still can be here with an S pass- But worse if he does then how about I get a Pr for my bf in Vn instead?!? Lol*
Or should I just let go of my ego and get married- contribute to Singapore population by giving birth of 2-3 singaporean kids then the government will consider giving me a Pr? And my story would become others like marrying just for the sack of staying in Singapore- but actually- I am -not!? Sound not make any sense to me and hurt my feeling since I have heard enough of foreigners being with locals for this and that reason. I choose Singapore because I like here, and I choose to marry my bf because I love him, 2 different things. Just being frank too :(

That's a complicated story you have - BF, Work, PR and all coming together, but now unravelling.

Of course, not forgetting your multi lingual ability, though I don't know how French, Korean and Japanese and all will help Singapore ;)

Good luck. You know what's best for you, other than marrying the guy :)

My PR was approved somewhere between March and April 2016 since I only check my status once a week. It took ~9 months.

Malaysian Chinese, male, mid 20s, graduated from local poly. Holding S Pass and applied for PR less than 5 months at my first job.

Due to my scant job experience, I focused on my academic achievements instead, but I can't say for sure how it has helped, for ICA's criteria is always enigmatic.

At my work I've come across several Vietnamese acquaintances, some of them successfully got their PR, some, like you, are not so lucky.

But those who got their PR are all graduates of well-known universities (NTU and NUS). Oh, they studied engineering and, invariably, speak much better English from my observation.

Anyway, it's admirable that you've gone to such great length to get a hold of the PR status. I wish you all the best!

Hi Kono Chan,
I am malaysian too and my Singaporean husband sponsored my PR application, but got my in principal approval within 6 weeks. We have about the same profile and I wonder why they take longer time to decide. Anyway, wish you have the good news soon :D

If I understand you correctly, Wishingyouahappyday, you don't want to marry for immigration-related reasons. If that's what you're trying to say, then, for what it's worth, I think you have the right idea at least on that score.
