Hi Guys

Could someone please let me know about data analytics jobs in Singapore? Jobs related to statistics / machine learning / NLP etc. That is jobs using the so called 'advanced' analytics beyond the Business Intelligence applications of data...
jobs from any of the core business domains (finance, marketing, operations) would be fine...

I have been looking through the usual job websites like monster, jobsdb, stjobs etc, but with little success.

Hi i am not too sure about your job scope, but i think that you may want to seek out a recruiter or apply with a recruitment agency to assist you in your search, esp for such specialised jobs.

Truth is, these job portals will only publish those jobs if the companies have vacancies for such positions. So if you have search once or twice and did not find any, it could be that companies are not hiring at the moment.

BTW is Actuarial jobs also something relevant to what you are looking for? You may want to try using that to search. All the best for your job search!

@ecureilex: I am a graduate student from a tri-institute program on Analytics.(at IIT Kgp, IIM Calcutta, ISI Kolkata; three of the premium institutes related to computer science, management and statistics in India). I haven't worked in the Industry so far, but am proficient in Statistics and Machine learning with exposure to NLP, Social Networks and Hadoop/Mapreduce. I'm looking for either a six-month internship (starting from October 2016) or a full-time job; whichever is more convenient for the company/visa. I have been to Singapore before for a semester-long exchange.

Data Scientists type roles are in high demand both in SG and in other parts of the world. It usually takes me upwards of 6-8+ months to recruit these roles. At the moment, we recruit these roles where-ever and whenever we can find the staff.

I don't have any reqs open at the moment, but if your on-the-ground in Singapore you'll likely be able to find something with a little bit of legwork. I don't know if 'haven't worked in the industry' means you haven't done this professionally or just haven't worked in the business domains you've listed. If you don't have any hands-on experience, this will likely be a bit of a hurdle. But given time you can likely still find something.

Many of the applicants who have come my way have had less then 1 year of experience (but advanced degrees) and they seem to be in demand.

Most recruiters will only work with people who are in Singapore. When you get here, you can just start cold-calling agencies.

By haven't worked in industry, I meant that I haven't worked as a full-time data scientist at any firm yet.
I'm currently in the final year of a graduate program in data science at a premium Indian institute.
