Why would you guys even post in this thread?

OP and subsequent posters were looking for like-minded friends.

You guys clearly are not looking to be part of the group. Why the need to post here when there are thousands of other threads in this forum? Couldn't we have left it as it was meant to be? a simple search for friends?

This not about being politically correct, not about an attack. It is not about sexually loaded comments. We are all adults here.

And by the way, I did not see any of the original posters joining in the "joke".

Er, you can laugh about it right, or - rhetorical question - is being gay a very serious business [ironic] ?

judyp - Not sure if what I wrote earlier got posted, so I'm just gonna post it again. I agree mostly to your posts and what you said about these guys not looking to be part of the group. It is annoying to read such posts when you are looking for like-minded friends. That being said, while I would love for this thread to remain on topic, it isn't going that way, so I suppose we should just let it be, because, after all, we are adults and cool and all :)

That aside, it would be great if we could actually meet some like-minded people here amidst all the jokes and chaos :)

why segregate posters based on gender preference? you seem to be hell bent on categorization of threads into homosexual & heterosexual
This is an open forum on the Internet, anyone can post anywhere.. by making a thread on this forum you are inviting all sorts of posters ( invited & uninvited )

Look at the title ... it is about a specific gender preference, within a larger group of expats.

I do not have anything more to say.

And discussing your personal expectations regarding the regulars posting on this forum falls under the topic of specific gender preference?

I don't scare easily.

Just because somebody posts regularly does not mean they are always right.

And now, I really do not have anything more to say.

Hi Judy - I think there's some pretty active Girl-Girl groups around on different Social Media platforms for Singapore....
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

And what is right Judy? The Judy's P way? You see, you fall under this specific category of people contributing close to nothing to a place but willing to correct other people who actually make this place attractive to people like you and people who you think you defend right now. The regulars have entitlements to have it the way they like it and this pretty much concludes the reasoning part of this lesbian-gay discussion.

The problem is that the right to offend and the right to be offended is a very subjective thing. On one hand, I would agree with judyp that there are some comments which are unnecessary, especially from RATM.

If we were to re-create this in a thread looking for black friends or Filipino friends or Christian friends or fit friends (see the distinct categories I try to portray here?), people would have cried racism, discrimination, elitism or body-shaming.

On the other hand, I appreciate a level of humour, either self-directed or directed by others. Being who you are should not be serious business but let's keep things civil, please. Especially when you try to joke by linking being lesbian to lesbian sex, which is NOT OKAY, despite what your favourite pornography sites tell you dudes.

Lynx, if you read Judy, you will see she is not concerned about racism, intolerance, aggression, sexism etc etc. She is concerned the thread is off the topic.

Reminds me of how socially divisive PC can be (especially IME in the US), which is ironic since I imagine it’s meant to help level the playing field and hence bring people closer together. Seems to end up with a prickly and quick-to-accuse protection of differentness.

Why did I visit this thread, (and er why should I feel a need to have to justify this to a stranger)? I have several gay friends both in SG, plus a couple of SGns who are currently abroad. One is out to the extent of being in a legal gay marriage, the other is in a position wherein such matters would perhaps end his/her career. I also know quite a bit regarding LTVPs/[DPs] for gay-couple spouses. I also know full-well the challenges such relationships face in SG; so same as with other topics I feel at liberty to pop in and offer my 2c. blah-blah-blah...

Ha, I just realised I’ve been forced into that PC requirement to establish one’s credentials prior to discussing a Specially Protected Topic for xyz victim-group only – [finger quotes in air] ‘I’ve got lots of gay friends and my view is ...’ [/FQIA]
