Hi
I am India currently working in Dubai. I have received an offer from SG company, who have mentioned that they would be processing my EP and DP for my wife. As my wife is my mother-in-law's only child and since my father-in-law is no more, my mother-in-law has been with us ever since our marriage. Visa rules in UAE permitting bring her on a long term basis.
I would like to know if I can bring my mother-in-law to Singapore as well when I am on EP. If yes, is the salary requirement 10,000 SGD?
Thanks in advance for inputs.

Re: LTVP for mother-in-law
No. Unfortunately an Employment Pass holder, even a well compensated one, can no longer sponsor a parent-in-law for a Long-Term Visit Pass. Prior to September 1, 2012, that used to be possible, but no longer.
In principle your mother-in-law is eligible to visit Singapore for occasional short stays, although she might need a visa depending on her nationality. For a longer stay there are a couple hypothetical options:
1. In principle your mother-in-law could qualify on her own independent merits to move to Singapore, for example with a work pass.
2. Theoretically your wife could qualify on her own merits for an Employment Pass and earn a fixed monthly salary of at least S$10,000/month, whereupon she would qualify to sponsor her parent for a LTVP.

Re: LTVP for mother-in-law
No, you cannot. Only your own mother/father, no 'in-laws', spouses and children only.

It's quite clear. Parents of the Work Pass holder, not parents of a Dependent Pass holder. Please don't assume it's a wrong interpretation because if you do, you will be in for a sad and expensive situation when your wife says screw you, I'm going back to India.CHANGES TO DEPENDANT PRIVILEGES FOR WORK PASS HOLDERS
As part of periodic updating, MOM has reviewed the qualifying salary criteria for work
pass holders to sponsor dependants. This is to ensure that sponsors are able to
upkeep their dependants in Singapore.
From 1 September 2015:
Work pass holders need to meet a minimum fixed monthly salary of $5,000 to sponsor the stay of their spouse/ children here (on Dependant’s Pass).
Work pass holders need to meet a minimum fixed monthly salary of $10,000 to sponsor the stay of their parents here (on Long Term Visit Pass).
New Dependant’s Pass (DP) applications for spouse/children and Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) applications for parents received before 1 September 2015 will be assessed on pre-1 September 2015 criteria.
Renewal of DPs/ LTVPs will also be based on pre-1 September 2015 criteria
provided the main pass holder remains with the same employer.
