Recommended nannies/ agencies

Post by CarienM » Sat, 12 Mar 2016 3:48 pm

Hello everyone, my husband company is relocating our family to Singapore for a year so we will be in need of a nanny for our two young boys. Can anybody recommend a nanny agency (or even if you know of anybody that might be looking for a position as a nanny) for me to investigate?

Thanks for any help in advance!

This is something best dealt with when you arrive, as you will have to apply through the MOM or to hire a foreign domestic worker, ie a maid. There aren't really nannies here like you might have at home - ie a babysitter plus who could help with homework and some household duties. By and large these are maids who can babysit. There are some very nice, hardworking ones available, and there are some not so nice ones. You can work through it all when you arrive and should be able to find one fairly easily. There are literally hundreds of agencies...I'ver personally had better experience trying to hire a maid that was already here but looking for a new employer.

Thank you for the info, will definitely only deal with it when we get there, just wanted to see if there were any specific agencies that I should be looking at (that might be better than others). How do you find nannies/maids that are already there looking for a new employer?

There Is a Facebook group to advertise for nannies looking for transfer.

Let me PM you tomorrow or so.

Plus an agency called Anisa (if I am not mistaken) helps place distressed maids. You may search here.

As for "better than the others" MOM has a demerit point system for agencies with complaints, but that's not always a good yard stick.

I know a couple of agencies who have no demerit points and the bosses are very relaxed, just servicing the existing clients and maids, but for somebody who wants to see a dozen bio data, they won't work :) but their existing clients totally trust them.
