Housewarming Etiquette
Attending a housewarming party next fri...What are some housewarming etiquette that i should follow in singapore for a chinese family?
Re: Housewarming Etiquette
1. Watch out for Feng Shui. Some hosts are quite particular so when you choose your gift be careful.
2. Take off your shoes. Self-explanatory.
3. Don't send clocks, shoes, sharp objects, or anything in fours.
Google is your best friend i guess. Not too sure but imo housewarming isn't a very big thing in Singapore. Maybe even a gift isnt needed.

I can only add to the above: don't post any links and don't mention any business names, blogs, places as this may not be what some hosts like and further to this may result in banning of the attendees.
BTW, what an amazing coincident of you two posting from the same IP address and registered the same date.

Well, the one gift you can't go wrong is to give red packet with money (ang bao we call it here). Haha The amount of money you should give, depends on how close you are to the host.

Haha, sorry, I mean dreamyjez, haha, but it's a lot more complicated than that as you well know. So, with all the up to day as of 2015 anyway, here is the current amounts you should be looking at for all kinds of functions where the giving of ang bao is often in order.dreamyjez wrote:Well, the one gift you can't go wrong is to give red packet with money (ang bao we call it here). Plants and wine.
Are you trying to tell us you'll be potted before the evening is over?

I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
