Local schools for foreigner

Hi all

My daugher is in K1 now in one of the church kindergarten.
I heard that Getting admission in local schools(P1) for expats is very minimal.
And even if I get an admission then the fees is same as International Schools.

Can you pour in your thoughts on this please?

So whats the percentage or chance for a place in local schools for foreigner ? and fees ???

(Ps: I was preferring local schools rather than International Schools hoping that education standard/coaching is very good at local schools).

Foreigner - under Pass ? There are a few threads on how difficult it has become to get a local seat.

Chances now ? Next to zero - oh, ok, to be fair, 0.1 % ?

Based on a survey done by an group of expat parents on FB, the percentage of foreigners (DP, LTVP, SPASS holders) that got accepted into a local school at P1 during the 2016 admission exercise is about 35%. Join the FB group "Singapore Expats in Local Schools". They have more info on local schools and alternative schooling and registration. For the 2017 P1 cohort, I do not know what the percentage will be. We will also be trying for a space for our daughter in about August (depending on MOE sched).

There are few local schools for foreigners and expats in Singapore. Invictus Private School is a new school that is following International standard curriculum and have affordable fees structure. High quality faculties and expert education and administrative teams deliver quality education experience.

And invictus will last about as long as the founders cash outlasts the burn rate or until their lease expires. The costs of running an int'l school here are unbelievably high - mainly due to the cost of leases but also salaries.

Saw some old response back in Mar 2016, that admission for foreign students into local school was 35% for 2016 intake in primary. Any idea of the status in 2017 intake into local schools at Primary level?
My daughter is eligible for 2018 Primary 1 intake and would like to get an idea if there is any hope & scope for her?

No way. that 35% means "of the students who passed the AEIS test 35% found places (in shitty schools in the ulu ulu)".

I find the leases here to be really short. When I started schools in China, we normally get 20-year leases for land. Here we are talking about 9-year leases. What can we do on 9 years? Incredible.

Wait...schools like Invictus are operating from offices, no? No need for large tracts of land?

2017 is also the same. less than 40% admission rate based on available data (survey from parents). My daughter was one of the unlucky ones. You can join the FB closed group "Singapore Expats in Local Schools" for more info.
