Re: Random thoughts thread
on a related note, did anyone manage to find out where the bangladeshi rupiahs ended up going to in the Philippines?

Easy there mate. Bangladesh is Takarajagainstthemachine wrote:on a related note, did anyone manage to find out where the bangladeshi rupiahs ended up going to in the Philippines?

yes, they found half of it, and the Casino Junket operator who had received the large portion has returned some of it.
And the bank manager who opened the 5 fictitious accounts and handled the whole thing, the same manager who had planned a very important visit to the Disney Land in Tokyo, coincidentally of course, just after the heist - the visit which was stopped by the Immigration and apparently the son is totally shattered ... now the Manager is refusing to talk and invoking the first amendment or 5th amendment or 100th amendment - the right to remain silent.
One thing is clear, Sri Lankans are poor- when a 20 Million $ inward remittance came, the Sri Lanka bank asked for clarification and more details, and stopped the transfer, and triggered the enquiry ...
but the Filipino bank was like, well, we see millions of $ of remittance everyday, let's take them and spend them

They're mowing the grass at the building next door. The sound resonates in an unexpected way. After living in SG where grass is cut year-around with strimmers or large tractor towed machines it's been a while since I've heard the ebb and flow sound of the kind of petrol push-mower that I'm familiar with. The first thing is it confirms the turn of the seasons, spring is here, and summer comes next
If anyone misses that sound I found a Youtube recording.

'12 HOURS OF A LAWNMOWER SOUND EFFECT'
Imagine lounging in a garden chair, Pimms or G+T in hand, that smell of fresh cut grass... ah bliss
p.s. I'm 10mins in and the mower hasn't hit a single stone yet

Indonesia, apart from PNG, is where most western pilots gain their hoursrajagainstthemachine wrote:Indonesian flying skills are amazing lol

Of course, once they gain their wings, they fly off.
There was a case of an Indonesia Air force pilot trying to do stunts in his Passenger plane and flew it straight into a mountain, and stories like that abound there.
