We did an Eagles gathering there one evening. Got pretty tapped out 'fore the night was done. Twas a pretty good evening if I remember correctly. Even the walk down to quay/circular road for that final one before they closed all the shutters. Was the first time I'd been there as well.

The one in the China Complex? Was good, and for the beer it was not that hipsterish at all (IIRC). I mean (again, IIRC) most of the beer were well balanced, tasty and without anything strongly dominating the taste, but they were just not the mainstream beers.

The move from the mainstream staple brands is an interesting one. Because the mainstream has something of a strangle-hold, and also the alternatives are $more.

I'm currently enjoying a packet of Golden Duck brand [tgdsingapore.com] Gourmet Salted Egg Yolk crisps. $6 for 125g, but delicious to try. The packaging has the whole nostalgic/hipster theme. There's so much seasoning on them I'm eating them from a bowl using a dessert spoon! Wowzer.

I take it the chap who gave them to us is a convert, he brought back 15 bags!

QueensG- brilliant catch!

JR8- It's not hipster enough if it ain't vegan. Shouldn't they be serving Organic Kale crisps "kettle cooked" if that were a thing, with toasted quinoa sprinkles and seasoned with artisanal hand gleaned Himalayan "ancient sea" salt?

Yeah, it is interesting. I wonder if it is better to pay the insanely rich behemoths a dime or add ten to the coffers of the many VC/crowdfunded smarties who will one day be a dozen times richer than me and rubbing it in my face. Just to appear different?

Artisanal today, mainstream tomorrow. Thank you Private Equity. But wont be long when you look at a hoegaarden bottle and think- remember those days...

Think I'll go buy some stock in one of them crowdfunded IPAs myself ...
