Getting Work on LTVP

Post by wiltol » Sun, 14 Feb 2016 11:31 pm

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is difficult to obtain work on a LTVP? I will be relocating from the UK through my work on an EP. I will be relocating with my unmarried partner, however we should be able to obtain an LTVP for her. I am wondering if employers frown upon candidates with LTVP's (as they will then have to organise an EP)? Is there a specific benefit obtaining a DP vs a LTVP?

Would be greatful to hear anyones thoughts. Thanks

What makes you think you're going to get an LTVP for an unmarried partner? MOM is quite clear that LTVP is for spouses who are married by common law. If you think you're going to declare common law marriage in order to get LTVP, then you'll need something official from the UK High Commission. But, they won't give you any document because common law marriage is not recognized in the UK. I haven't heard of anyone making this work. Get married and get her a DP under your EP.

Hi,

I hold a LTVP under my husband EP. We are getting married in July this year, will I be able to get a DP once we are married? If so, what are the procedures to make it happen?
Thanks,
