Well, pun intended, when out a population of 1.2 plus billion, say, 120 million Indians (10% of their population) have this attitude, they are about the same as the total population of Japan ;) So it doesn't have to be many, even 10% make them look like 'many' :)

On the other hand, I too would like to hear the answer your question from WD40 ;)

PS, how did you find out Fred Garvin is Indian ?:D

with the current birth rate of the japanese, they don't have any futurre at all. so let's not talk about "futurism" 8-)

what life has taught me is that happiness IS life. i am happy at work and happy at home. the japs are not happy. they work performance is certainly high, but the home front is a disaster. that's why their society is crumbling.

have you seen something funny? in this world (good or bad) you are mostly judged on your bank account. and paradoxically, the highest earners are NOT the "top of the class" guys. those are working FOR the highest earners. this is another thing life has taught me.

Wow 7 pages, didn't expect this when I started it, and the focus strayed a bit but organically and with some good content. Hopefully that will continue, as with the economy taking a sharper turn there is certainly more turbulence ahead, and with it, changes in foreigner demographics here.

I am remiss in not posting back on it but find myself not visiting the forum as much as before. Things are moving and changing with me on this topic and look to continue to do so. One thing is certain - unless something changes, I am on an accelerated path eventually outta here, and it will probably have a detour or two.

And while I agree with some of calugaruvaxile's premise it is a bit of a over-generalization. And misinterpretation - many Japanese do not have high work performance, they work hard and long and take pride in their work and as a result deliver superior products and services, but if their performance were better they would not work as ridiculously much as they do.

This is where I do my reminder thing about the word "Japs" being a slur and offensive.

Meet Calugaruvaxile.
She has something against Singapore.
She doesn't like the Japanese.
Does she like anyone?
Oh yes, she loves USA.

i did not intend to offend any japanese national.

to me, their mistake was the obsession to take us down by eating their economy. so they started to produce tvs and cars and a lot of other things at dumping prices. it paid off (remember the karate-kid and co movies of the eighties?) 'cause they did buy a huge chunk of us economy. but they forgot the first rule of economics: the biggest asset a company has it's the market. the ones buying their products. and guess what? the big market was still in the us, 'cause the depressed incomes at home (the very consequence of selling in dumping mode) meant the domestic market was weak.

so the lot years came, and then they tried the nationalism (remember the shrine visits), but ultimately they still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Use of that tired WW2-era derogatory term offends more than just the Japanese, and exposes yourself as remarkably ignorant and out of touch.

Came by this on my FB feed yesterday, odd as it's 4 years old, when things were not as dire as the are now:
http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest+New ... 76116.html

If more than half of Singaporeans harbour some suspicion (no matter how idle or misinformed) that life elsewhere might be more relaxed, more enjoyable, more vibrant - just more - it does not bode well.

and about my miserable, despicable self ... i should be tried somewhere in toah payoh and hanged off a bamboo pole, i know.

Then WAKE UP, calugaruvaxile, and stop already with the trite responses. You got called, rightly... deal with it instead of responding with your bullshit defensive inanities.

No joy there mate.

Unlike Trump threatening to re-introduce public hanging, Singapore won't hang you for spewing crap .. ;)

At the most, and if you are very lucky, a caning may be in order, but that too I doubt is gonna happen.

Fret not, Singapore Inc hasn't taken note of you - yet - you may never be taken note of, unless you do something like this .. Image

Why specifically in Toa Payoh? Is it to make them suffer?
