Good luck man. I hope you pop back to at least share some music, been a lot of fun and discovered a lot of new stuff via your suggestions! [Had some Tangerine Dream stuff on just last night lol].

Bon voyage :)

I have a couple of friends leaving who have been here 8-10yrs ....

They seemed like the types who would be the last to leave.

Its not very scientific , and based mainly on Ang moh's , but there don't seem to be any catching the Number 6 Bus to Loyang Way Business area these days, where a lot of Oil and Gas Support services are based.

I know Oil n Gas have done a lot of chopping , but have they done so much?

I thought the O&G, Shipyard types are in the wild wild west towards Jurong. In the east are the IT, Banking types thanks to CBP.

Most of the O&G guys I know have left or are without work. Although one has just returned so there is still some work out there.

I shipped out via Loyang Offshore base many a time back in the 80's.

Bloomberg - Singapore Job Cuts Signal More Pain as Unemployment Rises: Chart http://bloom.bg/2aCb3vf

Singapore’s unemployment rate rose to its highest level in more than two years in the second quarter -- at 2.1 percent -- and signs are that it may worsen. Sembcorp Marine Ltd., the world’s second-biggest builder of oil rigs that’s based in the city state, joined larger rival Keppel Corp. on Thursday to warn of possible job cuts after already cutting its workforce by 6,000 since 2014. Data on Thursday showed the unemployment rate for Singaporean citizens climbed to 3.1 percent from 2.6 percent, the biggest increase since 2009.

Hi all, checking in from across the pond, was nice reading your posts.

Still a bit hectic with getting acclimated, driving a car for the first time in years, the different food and ways of doing things as this is not my home town or anything like it.

So far it's good to be back, let's see if and after how long that wears off, but for now I don't think it will. I would definitely consider a return to Asia and possibly Singapore, however only if things are on an upswing. Brexit if it happens may give it a temporary boost, I'm not sure if there is staying power to warrant relocating back. But if I were married to a Singaporean, I would certainly consider (and I mean consider) becoming a SGC.

Hope everyone is doing well, and if that is where you want to be hope it is sustainable for that. I think there is an uptick in the way things are heading for the near term so regardless of where we are things should be good for the remainder of the year pending politics and resolutions.

Feels strange to be posting from afar like this.
