pass for foreign spouse

Post by evo86 » Thu, 04 Feb 2016 12:34 am

hi all, I would need some help and advises. Recently we seek MOM for approval for marriage as the foreign spouse is holding a work permit. MOM have approved.

As I understand that now there is long term visit pass assessment, long term visit pass, long term visit pass plus and PR

here are some background of us

I am a Singaporean, working as a bank officer, with a bachelor degree and have been contributing CPF, earning 2.8k per month

My foreign spouse is a divorcee, she has 1 children however is not under her care and she do not require to pay any maintenance fees, she is a Malaysian working here as a work permit holder since late last year, she hold an SPM, earning 1.4k per month.

I need to know what are the chances and which types of pass shall I apply for my foreign spouse.

Thanks

I think you'll succeed in applying for an LTVP+ (which gives her the right to work). However if she is on a WP and you have MOM permission and her WP is not cancelled then there is no need to do anything at all while her WP is valid. Just move in together. Best wishes.

I'll see PNGMK, and raise him one.

Once she is married, apply for the LTVP+ and then tell her employer to change her WP to a Letter of Consent. This will take her off the quota system for her employer and it will remove any foreign worker levies they are paying as well (that figure is currently anywhere between 400~700/for a M'sian FW. If she handles it smoothly, maybe she can score say 50% of the levy she is saving the employer as an increase in her base salary until such time as she ultimately receives PR which will then subject her to CPF.

Thanks both,

I look through ICA website for LTPV+ one of the criteria is that the local sponsor's Income Tax Notice of Assessment for the last 3 years and CPF Statement showing monthly CPF contribution for the last 12 months.

what if I did not contribute income tax but I have made a contribution of my CPF for more than 12 months. what are the chances for ICA to grant LTPV+ ?

To me, it's sounds like trying to buy your way in. You are saying you did not have any income? Or your income was less than 22K per year? If neither apply, good luck. I feel you may need a pretty good spoonful of luck if either guess is correct.

FYI, both LTVP and LTVP+ holding foreign spouses of Singaporeans and PRs are now able to obtain Letters of Consent from the Ministry of Manpower. The government extended LoCs to LTVP holding foreign spouses starting on February 1, 2015, so it's a fairly recent change.

Old news. I've written here about it before. In fact, I changed one of my employees from S pass to LoC in the original tranche in February last year. Just had approval for another one (LoC for male foreign spouse of a Singapore Citizen) who will be starting on the 10th. The first one is female foreign spouse who's sponsor is her PR husband who is a lecturer at one of the local uni's.

If by "here" you mean in another thread, that could well be true. But isn't it nice that somebody finally mentioned that an LTVP is sufficient for LoC purposes given that the original poster's spouse might not qualify for an LTVP+? I'd say that's being helpful where and when it counts.
