One of my best friend's suffering from depression, is there any way to cheer her up or lessen the depression mood? (She's 32 yrs, single).

Any advise would be appreciated...

Its hard thing dealing with depression.

I suffer from it myself as well and what I find thta really helps me is to get out of the house and move around. Things like window shopping, bookstores, having a coffee in a coffee shop, etc. I find that when you do things that are not demanding and not under pressure it takes my mind off things.

I have also recently started doing a lot of exercise and that is helping me plus it makes it easier to get deep sleep.

Friends are good but sometimes unfortunately if you give too much time and support to someone when they are depressed it might make them feel worse as they will feel like they are a useless case that needs looking after all the time or that they 'must' reciprocate.

Even though medicenes should be taken as a last resort I have had to go on some course (of now) of anti-depressnats that really helped me get through the really down and out rough patches. Get her to go see her doctor is needs be.

Take care and thank you.

It is great to know you care so much about your friend as depression really suck big time and we all need a bit of help every now and then.

I would advise her do some things like yoga exercise, listening to soothing music, those with waves or water flow kind of backgrounds. I have a certificate in Aromatherapy. So my professional advise is by diffusing of lavander oil to help to sooth her mood & sleep better too. I came out of post natal depression with that too.

drink a beer and get laid. if you are too ugly, take anti-depressiva pills and you will smile like crazy all the time and you look good.

Hi,

Exercise like swimming , slow walk in nature park might help a little.
Or you could try talking to her more often.I have a friend who is also having very serious depression problem seem to improve alot after lot of consultation from me BUT my energy all drain out by him wow really tired after the chat. Good if you yourself or get a expert to talk to your friend.

Good luck.
