Things That I Miss... Sort Of...

Post by Strong Eagle » Wed, 20 Jan 2016 11:16 am

Ahhh... the joys of dealing with Singapore customer service... unfailingly polite... and very often clueless as to how to reach the end game.

I've been dealing with ICA regarding PR cancellation, CPF for disbursement of funds (these folks are a real PITA), and OCBC, who magically re-instated two credit cards for me, billed me $181 for renewal fees, then added another $210 in late charges... all without a statement, email or anything.

I think I have it sorted... and you know how that goes in Singapore... were we able to bridge the communication barrier and actually get things accomplished? And... I'm not talking about English.

Ah yes, the renewal fee for things you took one look at and thought, " I'll never ever use that" and chuck in the drawer, Then the late fees, we get up to $200 very quick. Then the two hours of phone calls to get rid of it. Citibank ready credit I am talking about you. It's enough to make you close all of your accounts, which I have.

OCBC actually has a phone option (#1) for removing yearly renewal fees.

That's SG Customer Service 101 for you. May wanna put it up as sticky for newcomers to the country. When they set up the appropriate expectation, their stay will be just a little bit more smoother and enjoyable :D .
