Documents for MOM
Documents for MOM
Hi all, I just arrived in Singapore to work here. My HR has scheduled me to issue EP card by next week. However, I wasn't told that I need to bring the original document of birth certificate and graduation certificate. I also don't know that I need to bring the copy of graduation certificate.
Does MOM need all of them? Since MOM doesn't state them in IPA.

Re: Documents for MOM
If you don't have them with you and have already an appointment arranged, then just go there and hear what MOM needs. It seems they do vetting of the documents (information) also after issuing of the pass so it should not be critical for them to see the originals at that specific time especially if they don't ask for them in IPA.
(on a different note, it's a bit weird you brought over with you just copies, my opinion at least)

Re: Documents for MOM
Yes, for information, during application of my EP, there was a status "pending for vetting agencies". Do they still need it? Maybe you have some information or experience with it.

Re: Documents for MOM
Look mate, make you life simple. If MoM wants certain documents, they tell you in the IPA. But, if it makes you feel better, bring originals of your birth certificate, graduation certificate, and anything else you might think useful... all they do is sight inspect and make a copy, then hand them back to you
Re: Documents for MOM
Do what they ask in the IPA; they are precise in what they want. If it's not listed there it's not required.
[Perhaps this is a case where copy documents in a submission, which they independently verify, negate the need to later present originals?]
p.s. Welcome to the forum, and let us know how you get on, as the answer to this situation will be of interest to others

It's really on a case to case basis I guess. I recently through the same procedure and had all the documents ready as per the.thwbr wrote:Hi all, I just arrived in Singapore to work here. The officer in charge didn't even bother to check any documents even after me reminding her.

I always look at things this way, I pretend I'm going out on the river to watch salt water crocs. Would I go without my gun? Even though I probably will never need it? Hell no. With something like moving to a foreign country and having hurdles to surmount, would you like to make sure you have all the kit necessary? Or would you like to give them the impression that you just cant be bothered. Personally, I dodn't leave anything to chance. Maybe that's why I'm still alive after 18 months in the NAM flying choppers on 18 years as a deep sea diver in the oilfields of the world. But you do to suit yourself

Well, hell! They ought to roll out the red carpet, strike up the band and automatically give him SC as he would fit right in with the average local then!rajagainstthemachine wrote:its called common sense ay SMS ?
